OTTAWA- Ralph Corey’s defense attorney gave one last effort, but the jury wasn’t having it. Corey, the 52-year-old suspect in the kidnapping and attempted rape case from 12 years ago, is guilty on all five counts: aggravated kidnapping, attempted rape, two  counts of aggravated sexual battery, and criminal threat. The jury deliberated for two and a half hours after hearing the defense argue that the DNA evidence wasn’t reliable backed by a testimony by DNA expert Dr. Dean Stetler, who said the Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s DNA testing was sloppy. Sentencing for Ralph Corey is scheduled for August 27 at 1:00. Corey currently sits behind bars without bond.
