OTTAWA — Deputy Ottawa city clerk Carolyn Snethen and her husband were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Thursday night after a two-car crash on U.S. 59 five miles south of Lawrence. Rebecca James, 48, Perry, was driving south U.S. 59 when she tried to turn left onto County Road 650 in front of a car driven by 58-year-old Carolyn Snethen, 58, Ottawa, causing the crash, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. She was injured, as was her passenger, Ron Snethen, 60, retired Ottawa city water superintendent. James and a passenger in her car weren’t injured.
