GARNETT — Anderson County commissioners are doing some shopping to see if they can find a better deal on the county’s ambulance service. The county’s ambulance service is managed by the St. Luke’s Health System, which also operates Anderson County Hospital Anderson County Hospital administrator Denny Hachenberg told the Anderson County Review that the commission is welcome to check and see the county is getting the best possible service for the kind of money they’re spending. The Review reported that the cost of the ambulance department has increased over the past 10 years from $129,000 to $585,000. County Commissioner Jim Johnson, a former ACH administrator, said he’s willing to do some price comparison, “if nothing else validate what you’re getting – the service and the cost of that service.” Three ambulance companies, including St. Luke’s, will present proposals to the commissioners next Monday.
