POMONA LAKE — Although the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism has cancelled many Independence Day fireworks displays because of the risk of wildfires, the annual fireworks display at Pomona State Park is still scheduled for Wednesday night at dusk near Boat Ramp #1. The Friends of Pomona State Park will offer visitors free coffee and donuts at the Kansa shelter and at the new playground at the Osage Campground. However, no personal fireworks will be allowed at the park. On Friday night, the park will offer free concert of classic rock and roll music by Shawn Ward from 7 to 10 at Lighthouse Bay.
