OTTAWA — The Franklin County Historical Society’s Glorious Fourth celebration will replicate how early-day Kansans did Independence Day 150 years ago. “They celebrated Independence Day a lot more differently than we do now,” said Deborah Barker, Franklin County Historical Society executive director. This morning’s celebration will include the reading of the entire Declaration of Independence, always an important staple of Independence Days in Kansas celebrations 150 years ago, she said. There will be a free old-fashioned breakfast after the ceremony. The Glorious Fourth will be this morning at 8 at the Deitrich Cabin in City Park.
