INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Long-time radio personality and KOFO staffer Bruce Efron died friday at the age of 61, after a fight with lung cancer. Efron was on radio for more than 30 years, including time on KOFO in Ottawa during the 1970s. However, he remained host of KOFO’s “Solid Gold Country Hour” until his health deteriorated. For the last 12 years, he was most recently on the air for WDAF in Kansas City as the “All Night Trucker.” He was an active member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue in Independence, Mo., and a member of Big Brothers-Big Sisters. A graveside service is this morning at 10 at the Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery Chapel in Independence. Memorials have been established with the Jewish Family Services or the American Cancer Society.
