OTTAWA — During Monday morning’s discussion of the budget, county commissioners disagreed over how much to fund Franklin County Development Council. Commissioner Ed Taylor said he favors the group’s request for $60,000, which is an increase for next year. Commission chair David Hood disagreed, saying the county has been throwing money at the group, which was formerly Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development, with little result. He said the budget allocation should be kept at $50,000 or cut. Taylor replied that there was plenty of evidence that the money was producing results. “What about the American Eagles, the Wal-Marts and the Loves?” he asked. However, there haven’t been enough of those coming to the area, Hood replied.
