GARNETT — Anderson County Hospital officials seek to place a $26.5 million bond issue for a new hospital and long-term care unit on the November ballot. The Anderson County Review reportsed on Facebook that hospital officials were to meet with Anderson County commissioners this morning to request that the request be placed on the ballot. The Review says the study by the hospital says it will cost more for local taxpayers to repair and maintain the present 1949-vintage facility than build a new facility. The county owns the hospital and facilities but they’re operated by St. Lukes Health Systems. The paper said the preliminary proposal would require $1.5 million annually in debt service over the 30-year bond period.
