OVERLAND PARK — His family, teammates, friends and former members of the Kansas City Chiefs gave a sendoff Monday afternoon to the Ottawa University football player whose back was broken in a weight-lifting accident last week. Since the accident, Matt Bolig has been at Overland Park Regional Medical Center but he departs this week for Craig Hospital in Denver for extensive rehabilitation. At the celebration he received a Chiefs jersey, other gifts and best wishes from former Chiefs Bill Maas, Anthony Davis, Ken Kremer, and Tony adams Bolig was lifting weights when he lost his footing and the weights fell on him. He was left partially paralyzed. Bolig said that even if he doesn’t walk again, he’ll keep fighting and he won’t let the injury stop him.
