OTTAWA – Because the city of Ottawa will receive a federal grant to buy more than 54 acres south of the Municipal Airport, the county will have to write some planning and zoning rules for part of the air space around the airport. County planning director Larry Walrod told the county commission Monday that the county will have to create rules concerning the heights of towers, overhead wires and structures in the air space around the airport to meet federal aviation guidelines. The city and county will jointly hold an open house on the proposed airspace guidelines in September, he said.
