OTTAWA — The Franklin County Sheriff’s office received reports of three vehicle thefts over the weekend. A 22-year-old Rantoul man reported that his grandmother’s Ford Ranger pickup was stolen from his home in the 4400 block of Jackson Road southwest of Rantoul. The sheriff’s office said the pickup was involved in a traffic accident in Osawatomie. A 34-year-old Pomona woman reported her uncle took her car without her permission. The sheriff’s office said her uncle, Barry Syens, 39, Ottawa, was pulled over Saturday night. He was booked into the Franklin County jail for driving under the influence and felony theft. A 56-year-old Ottawa man reported his Ford F150 pickup was stolen from the 3400 block of Rock Creek Road southeast of Ottawa. The loss was estimated at $8,000.
