TOPEKA- The unemployment rate in the Kansas City area has jumped nearly a whole percent in one month’s time. This includes counties Franklin, Johnson, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami and Wyandotte, and amounts to seven percent, nine- tenths higher than June. This report doesn’t show much improvement since this time last year. July of 2011 showed a 7.2 percent unemployment rate. This number release amounts to a little over 27,000 people are on the hunt for a paycheck.
