OTTAWA — Downtown businesses and Ottawa community members roll out the red carpet for returning Ottawa University students in tonight’s Fusion activities at the Franklin County Courthouse lawn from 6 to 8. This year is the second straight year that Fusion has been held downtown, said Susan Webb, OU director of career services and student employment. Moving Fusion from the OU campus to downtown last year proved popular, she said. “It went very well and I think everybody had a good time and we’re hoping to bring in more community members this year,” Webb said. Fusion is an attempt to acquaint OU students with the community and what the downtown has to offer as well as offer a good time to students. It’s a joint effort by Ottawa University, the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, the Franklin County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Ottawa Main Street. This year will feature special entertainment – a hip-hop violinist who performed on “America’s Got Talent,” Webb said. The event also includes a barbecue. Tickets for the BBQ are $8 at the door. Everyone is welcome.
