OVERLAND PARK – A 22-year-old Bucyrus woman was seriously injured in a four-vehicle chain-reaction crash Tuesday afternoon on I-35 in Overland Park. The Kansas Highway Patrol said all of the vehicles were going north on I-35, just south of the I-635 interchange, when an unknown vehicle caused Jairo Lopez, 36, Kansas City, Kan., to make an evasive maneuver. Lopez lost control of his car, which hit a car driven by Sarah Hermes, Bucyrus. Her car rolled over. Lopez’s car was then hit by a car driven by Ivelisse Diaz-Perez, 43, of Kansas City, Kan. The highway patrol said Hermes was the only person injured and she was taken to KU Medical Center. The first vehicle that started the accident left the scene.
