MELVERN LAKE – Park personnel at area lakes have been preparing for the rush of visitors to the takes for this weekend’s long Labor Day holiday. Because it traditionally marks the end of summer, Labor Day is the third-biggest weekend of the summer, said Dale Schwieger, manager of the Eisenhower State Park at Melvern Lake. “People have vacation time to use or they want to get to the lake before school starts,” he said. Although the number of visitors slows down after Labor Day, the parks still have activities scheduled and there is a steady flow of people, especially those who use the horse trails around Melvern Lake, he said.
