TOPEKA – The state will hold more KanCare educational meetings in eight cities next month. Officials will talk about the proposal by Gov. Sam Brownback to turn over the state’s Medicaid program to three private companies. The closest meetings will be Sept. 25 in Chanute, Sept. 26 in Olathe and Emporia. There will be a teleconference Sept. 27. Medicaid offers health services for the poor, disabled and elderly poor. Brownback said privatizing the Medicaid program will save money and improve service, but his plan has skeptics. The new round of meetings was scheduled after federal regulators received 19 formal comments – all negative.
