GARNETT — Convicted child molester Michael Stevens received a 50-year prison sentence Friday. The Anderson County Review reported Judge Eric Godderz issued consecutive sentences under “Jessica’s Law” to Stevens for two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and a concurrent sentence for one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a 7 year-old boy. The 31-year-old Stevens will be 81 before he’s considered for parole under the present sentence. After a hung jury in his first trial, Stevens was convicted during a second trial. He was convicted of raping the boy who was his son.
The child’s mother had testified she was raped by Stevens, and that the boy was a product of that rape. In the spring of 2011, she decided her 7-year-old son needed to know his father and brought Stevens into the home. Stevens stayed at the home for a couple of weeks, and the boy later reported the assaults happened then.
