OTTAWA — The Franklin County Commission voted this morning to end the county burn ban. County Fire Marshal Alan Radcliffe told commissioners there has been enough rain to end the two-and-a-half-month burn ban. Firefighters’ first priority is to save lives, houses and other farm structures enclosing equipment or hay bales, he said. He said he has driven the county and the lawns and grass around homes and structures has greened up enough to slow down a range fire to give firefighters time to save the buildings, he said. Radcliffe said although the burn ban has been ended, the county’s burn permit system is still in place. Now that the ban has ended, residents can now burn their trash or do bonfires but he said people should still be careful. As of today, burn bans remain in effect for Anderson and Miami counties.
