SALINA — The Salina City Commission has voted to place the question of repealing a gay-rights ordinance on the November ballot. On a split vote in late May, the city commission approved an ordinance that banned discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in housing, employment and public accommodations. A group called Awaken Salina and the Wichita-based Kansas Family Policy Council submitted petitions with more than over 2,400 signatures of Salina residents protesting the ordinance. Hutchinson voters repealed a similar city ordinance during the August primary.
