BALDWIN JUNCTION — The Kansas Department of Transportation will have a ribbon-cutting for the long-delayed Douglas County leg of the new U.S. 59 expressway next Tuesday morning at 10 at the U.S. 59 and U.S. 56 interchange. Gov. Sam Brownback will among the speakers at the ribbon-cutting. Other speakers include KDOT secretary Mike King, deputy KDOT secretary Jerry Younger, Baldwin City Mayor Ken Wagner, Lawrence Mayor Robert Schumm, and Douglas County Commissioner Mike Gaughan. In case of inclement weather, the ribbon-cutting will be moved to KDOT’s maintenance area at the southwest corner of the interchange.
