OTTAWA — Four people were caught in a sting operation staged by Ottawa police and Kansas Alcohol Beverage Control agents for selling alcohol to underage customers Wednesday night. Police had received several complaints that licensed establishments were periodically providing alcohol to customers under age 21, Capt. Adam Weingartner said. “We know violations occur in some of the bars, restaurants and liquor stores,” he said. “The department recently received repeated complaints about under-age service at several establishments.” Weingartner said those caught in the sting were: Ashley Burke, 32, Ottawa, at the Sandbar, 1604 S. Main; Bradley Snow, 27, Ottawa, at Brandywine Liquor, 1605 S. Main, Shane Limzo, 22, Lawrence, at Blue Sky Liquor, 1410 S. Main; and Kathryn Duncan, 21, Ottawa, at Pizza Time 208 S. Main. “I want these businesses to know that the department takes these complaints seriously and we will continue to conduct spot checks for violations,” Weingartner said. This year, Ottawa police conducted more than 200 checks of taverns and bars for underage drinks, fights or disorderly conduct and DUI, he said.
