OTTAWA — Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Curry said he remains the sheriff and remains on duty. No one in the sheriff’s office has been suspended or taken off duty, he said. Curry confirmed the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is probing his department. Curry said he can’t comment about the investigation but he said he and his department is fully cooperating with the KBI. KOFO filed a Freedom of Information this morning with the department and county seeking information about the investigation or any personnel changes occurring in the department. On Friday, Franklin County Attorney Stephen Hunting requested that the Shawnee County District Attorney serve as a special prosecutor in connection with the matter.
