TOPEKA – Gov. Sam Brownback has issued a proclamation honoring the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America this year. Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low held the first Girl Scout meeting in Savannah, Ga. Brownback calls the Girl Scouts the largest, longest-running and most effective leadership program for girls in the nation and the world. Girls Scouts and Girl Guides have 10 million members in 145 countries.
