OTTAWA — COF Services has received a $1.5 million grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank. The grant will cover six separate projects in the agency’s three-county service area of Franklin, Osage and Coffey counties, said Karla Bienhoff, COF staffer who wrote the grant application that snagged the grant. The grant will renovate 16 COF houses in the three counties, install new fire sprinkler systems in each, and repair roofs and floors. The application was the second try to get the grant, she said. After the first unsuccessful attempt, Bienhoff said she talked to FHLB officials to find out what would improve the second application’s chances.
