OTTAWA — Main Street directors will meet in Emporia Wednesday to see if there’s life after Kansas Main Street. Main Street directors from more than 20 cities will decide how to organize a state group now that the Brownback Administration has eliminated the state’s Main Street program as a cost-cutting measure, Ottawa Main Street director Becci Shisler said. Despite the action, the Main Street directors will likely form a new state-wide group to help coordinate efforts, she said. Main Street will remain successful on a local basis, she said. The directors will meet with a representative with the national Main Street organization to look at their options.
