OTTAWA–52 year old Ralph E Corey of Arizona has been convicted for a second time on Aggravated Kidnapping, Attempted Rape, Two Counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery, and Criminal Threat. The jury returned the verdict after over 8 hours of deliberation. This was the second trial for Corey after his first trial was declared a mistrial when a juror used a smartphone to do research. Corey was linked by DNA to a February 2000 kidnapping and sexual assault of an Ottawa teenager from Walmart. It was only in the last couple of years that a DNA “hit” was made to Corey, who was in prison in Arizona on other charges. Sentencing for Corey in this case is set for December 11 at 2:30. He faces between 24 to 37 years in prison.
