BALDWIN CITY — Part of what has just become Old Highway 59 in Douglas County will be closed today for about three to four weeks. Northbound and southbound Old Highway 59 on either side of the 650N Road interchange will be closed for reconstruction work, the Kansas Department of Transportation said. Eastbound and westbound 650N Road will remain open to all traffic through the interchange area will remain open to traffic. Drivers wishing to use Old Highway 59 up to that interchange must use the newly-opened U.S. 59 to the U.S. 56 or 1000 Road interchanges and back-track, KDOT said. The work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November, weather permitting.
