CHANUTE — The Neosho County Community College trustees have awarded a design-bid contract for $45,200 to Loyd Builders of Ottawa for the redesign of a Chanute science lab. The science lab is being updated with a combination of federal grant funds and other college revenue. The federal funds must be separated and the contract just involves the federal money. Another contract will be issued later for the rest of the lab. The work on the lab will take place next summer. The trustees also awarded a $17,000 contract to Holtz Electric of Bartlesville, Okla., for $16,352.50 to install a digital video recording system for the simulated hospital at the Ottawa campus. The system will allow instructors to record students conducting patient simulations and then debrief the students afterward to look for ways of improving. The college said the system is being used at Chanute and is a success.
