OTTAWA — A 22-year-old man was booked into the Franklin County jail Friday night for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing or attempting to elude, and reckless driving after officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. Ottawa police said the driver, who they identified as Scott Smith, Jr., tried to back into pursuing officers during the chase.
