OTTAWA — ECKAN’s Christmas Bureau is accepting applications through November. 30 for Christmas assistance. Those wishing to apply must do so at the East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity’s Franklin County center at the Don Woodward Community Center in Ottawa. The Christmas Bureau is designed to help low-income families during the Christmas holiday by providing gifts for children and food for individuals and families. Last year, the Christmas Bureau served 380 households and 894 individuals. ECKAN is also looking for people to donate money, new toys or canned food items, or adopt a family. The goal for this year is $6,000 Mail checks to ECKAN Christmas Bureau, P.O. Box 40, Ottawa, KS,66067; drop by ECKAN’s central office at 1320 S. Ash, Ottawa; or make contributions to KOFO’s Thanks for Giving locations throughout the area.
