OTTAWA — Ottawa Main Street has selected local artist Scott Braden to paint a historically-themed mural at Haley Park. Main Street’s Heidi Kingsolver said the group is now raising money for the mural. Thanks in part to Braden, a city electrical utility box at the courthouse has become street art. Ottawa Main Street volunteer Jane Creighton, who maintains the flowers and plants at the courthouse corner at Fourth and Main, decided the box was ugly and asked the city for permission to do something about it. She then commissioned a paint job on the box. The box now sports Braden’s paintings of two couples, one a farm couple and the other a city couple, from the mid-19th century. Creighton said she and Braden are discussing another five electric boxes along Main Street.
