OTTAWA — Ottawa firefighters received a call of an anhydrous ammonia leak from a tank at Ottawa Co-op in the 600 block of North Locust Street Monday night. Firefighters were going through the area following up a report of smoke when they were notified of the leak from an empty tank, Assistant fire chief Richard Oglesby said. They found that the valve on the tank was open and they alerted Co-op employees. He said an investigation continues on whether the valve was accidently left open or if someone tampered with it.
