RICHMOND — Franklin County Historical Society staff will visit the Richmond Public Library Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 3 to scan photographs and written memorabilia. This will be the fourth and final collecting session that the historical society has held at Franklin County libraries and museums this year in conjunction with the society’s 75th anniversary. The scanning sessions have produced some valuable additions to the computerized archives, including a autograph book given to a rural school teacher at the Northern Illinois School near Pomona, and ornate wedding certificates, said Deborah Barker, historical society executive director. Scanning will be done while the owners are present. The scanned copies will be added to the archives and may appear on the recently expanded history portal Web site, www.franklincokshistory.org. Photos and documents may be from any time period in Franklin County’s history. Barker said owners will receive disks containing the scanned copies of the images they provide. Duplicate disks will be offered to the Richmond Community Museum.
