TOPEKA — Thursday is the American Cancer Society Great American Smokeout. For those who are ready to quit smoking, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment offers cessation support and information on-line at www.ksquit.org or a toll-free phone number at 1-800-QUIT-NOW. It’s important to plan to quit smoking and setting a quit date is an important step, said KDHE secretary Robert Moser. The Great American Smokeout offers folks a chance to feel a part of something bigger than themselves, he said. A pack-a-day smoker will save about $200 between the Great AmericanS and Christmas, the KDHE’s Paula Clayton said. You can also check the Web site www.greatamericansmokeout.org.
