GARNETT – A former Garnett business owner faces a trial in Anderson County District Court on at least two criminal charges of providing steroids from his now-closed martial arts studio. The Anderson County Review reported that Brock Moody, 40, will face at least one felony drug charge and one misdemeanor child endangerment charge, in which he is accused of giving steroids to his son and telling him they were vitamins. The paper reported that after a preliminary hearing on about 40 charges last week, Judge Kevin Kimball will review evidence in the case to decide if Moody should be tried on more charges. The preliminary hearing included testimony from his son, B.J. Moody who testified that he discovered his father had been giving him steroids, leading to a family feud that culminated in a police report and the current criminal case; and his brother, 35-year-old Phillip Moody, who also is facing multiple charges of conspiracy to manufacture steroids and is cooperating with authorities. The brothers bought compounds for anabolic steroids from foreign suppliers including some in China and then made, packaged and sold finished steroids from the former Brock Do Jujitsu in Garnett, Anderson County Attorney Fred Campbell said. The studio closed last year.
Moody’s arraignment is Dec. 10.
