OTTAWA — Tis the season for car burglaries. There has been a recent spate of burglaries from lock and unlocked parked vehicles recently, Ottawa Police Capt. Adam Weingartner said. “It’s always a good reminder that as we enter the holiday period, to lock your vehicle whether you are at your home, at a business or away,” he said. Keep presents in your trunk out of sight, he said. If that’s not feasible or you have to keep gifts in the vehicle, bring a blanket or other covering to hide them, he said. Park in well-lit area at night, he said. “At any time, report suspicious activity,” Weingartner said. “If you see someone looking through windows and they seem out of place, just give the police a call and we’ll come check it out.”
