TOPEKA — Conservative senator Susan Wagle, R-Wichita, will be Kansas’ first woman senate president. The senate, now dominated by Republican conservatives, picked Wagle over another conservative, Steve Abrams, R-Arkansas City. Johnson County conservative Ray Merrick will be the house speaker in a three-way race with two other Johnson County conservatives, Lance Kinzer and Arlen Siegfried. Democrats re-elected Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley and House Minority Leader Paul Davis. The Kansas Legislature reconvenes on Jan. 14.
