TOPEKA — A Louisiana-based paving company has been banned from Kansas, Derek Schmidt, state attorney general said. Allied Paving Company violated the state’s consumer protection laws, using deceptive practices related to sales activities in work done in four counties, including Osage County, Schmidt said. The company’s representatives were accused of doing door-to-door sales pitches for repaving parking lots and driveways, but failed to disclose all their charges. Schmidt said the best way consumers can protect themselves against deceptive door-to-door salesmen is to get multiple bids for any work you want done. The company also agreed to pay $25,000 in restitution, he said.
