LAWRENCE — Lawrence police are investigating an animal cruelty complaint involving Kansas University’s Beta Theta Pi fraternity and a turkey. Police told the Lawrence Journal-World that a live turkey was in a cage during a party at the frat house Friday night Witnesses told police that the turkey had been poked and heckled while it was in the cage. Police said party-goers also chased and abused the turkey, causing it serious injuries. Someone told police he killed the turkey to end its suffering. No one was arrested, but police said they have forwarded a report to the Douglas County District Attorney’s office.
