OTTAWA — Next spring or summer will see a major overhaul to the K-68 and Davis Road intersection in Ottawa. Public works director Andy Haney told city commissioners Thursday that the project should make the location much safer. The intersection will include traffic signals, grading and widening work on Davis Road, turn lanes, sidewalks and bike lanes, Haney said. Davis Road will be closed during the project, which will take approximate four months, and the city is preparing detours, he said. The project will cost around $1.2 million and will be done by Killough Construction, Ottawa, he said. After paperwork submitted to the Kansas Department of Transportation is approved, a schedule for construction will be established, he said.
