BALDWIN CITY — The National Federation of State High School Association’s Coaches Association has selected the Baldwin High School’s tennis and softball coach for national coach of the year. Ginny Honomichl received the National Coach Contributor Award. The award is given annually to one person in the nation. The group said the award is given to an individual who has gone above and beyond and who exemplifies the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and moral character. At Russell High School, Honomichl started the girl’s track and basketball programs, and coached girls tennis. During her 22-year career at Baldwin, she coached boys and girls tennis and softball. She has also been involved in all phases of the Kansas State High School Activities Association and the Kansas Coaches Association. She was inducted into the KSHSAA Hall of Fame in 2012.
