LOUISBURG — A 31-year-old Cleveland, Mo., man died in a crash at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday morning in Miami County. Anthony Bowers was pronounced dead at the scene, Miami County Undersheriff Wayne Minckley said. Bowers’ pickup went through the T-intersection at Mission Road and 231st Street and hit a ditch embankment, Minckley said. Bowers wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. About a half-hour earlier, the sheriff’s office received a report of a pickup stuck in a ditch about a mile north of the crash site, he said. A passerby called to report that a pickup that matched the description of the pickup involved in the fatality accident was stuck in the ditch and that he had helped the man get the truck out. “The caller told us that he appeared to be intoxicated,” Minckley said. Officers patrolled the area but didn’t find a pickup matching the description, he said. Minkley said it was likely that Bowers was involved in the first accident.
