The Kansas Department of Transportation approved bids for work on the old Highway 59 before it is turned over to Douglas County. KDOT awarded a $1.1 million bid to Bettis Asphalt and Construction of Topeka to repave nearly 13 miles of the road between Franklin County and the southern city limits of Lawrence. KDOT also awarded a $4.4 million bid to King’s Construction Company of Oskaloosa to repave and do grade work on nearly a mile of the road between Yale Road to Bob Billings Parkway.
