NEW STRAWN — A 51-year-old Holton man was killed Monday afternoon when his crane tipped over northwest of New Strawn. Eric Spaar was found pinned underneath the 50-ton crane, Coffey County Sheriff Randy Rogers said. Rogers said Spaar was working on a bridge replacement project on 19th Road west of Juneberry Road north of John Redmond Lake when the accident occurred. Spaar was an employee of Midwest Construction of Holton. Rogers said his office and the federal Occupational Health and Safety Agency are continuing to investigate the accident.
