OSAWATOMIE — The vacant Brown’s Hardware building in Osawatomie was being demolished. The current owner is removing the building prior to selling the property to a new owner, Osawatomie city manager Don Cawby said. Cawby said although the prospective owner has not yet submitted a building permit nor an official plan for a new structure, there are plans to rebuild on the lot. Sidewalks and parking spaces will be blocked in front of Brown’s Hardware and the neighboring buildings to ensure public safety, and the alley behind the building and Main Street were to be temporarily closed during certain times of the demolition, he said. Debris from the demolition is being temporarily stored on a lot directly to the north and will be hauled off this week.
