OTTAWA — Ottawa High School will start reoffering vocational programs with a little help from its friends. Neosho County Community College will open a new welding program for area high school students at Garnett in Anderson County USD 365 for the fall semester, Ottawa USD 290 school Supt. Dean Katt said. The Anderson County school district is allowing the community college to use some of its school buildings for the program, he said. Because of a relatively new state vocational program, the state will pay all of the costs of transporting students between Ottawa and Garnett, as well as the tuition costs, he said. Neosho may also locate medical technician classes at Garnett, he said. Katt said a construction trades program through NCCC is also in the works for the 2014-15 school year in Garnett.
