WICHITA — Two Wichita brothers decided to have a hot time celebrating a $75,000 winning lottery ticket Friday. Perhaps a little too hot of a time. The Wichita Eagle reported they accidentally blew up their house during the celebration. Wichita police told the newspaper the brothers decided to celebrate their good by buying marijuana and meth. One of the brothers went to the kitchen to refuel the butane torches they were using to light their bongs. The brother emptied a couple large cans of butane lighter fluid, leaking butane into the air. The pilot light in the furnace ignited the butane vapor, causing the blast, the Eagle reported. One brother is in a Wichita hospital in serious but stable condition with second-degree burns. His girlfriend loaded him and some children into a car and took him to the emergency room, left him and took off. When police converged on the blast site, the other brother took off running but his luck was bad. He’s now in jail.
