OTTAWA- Franklin County Emergency Management is continuing to monitor the severe winter storm that is approaching Franklin County.  Emergency Management has met with EMS, Sheriff’ Office, Public Works, and American Red Cross to prepare for the storm.  The County Commission was briefed this morning at their Study Session.  The County is still under the Declaration of Disaster that was signed by the County Commission Chair last Thursday.  This authorizes the use of the County Emergency Operations Plan.

The Franklin County Emergency Management Office continues to discourage travel during this winter storm especially in the morning. If you must travel please take some precautions. Make sure you have a full tank of gas, plenty of warm clothes, a charged cell phone, a shovel and sand or cat litter. Let someone know where you are going and what route you will be taking.

Franklin County offices (for non-emergency response personnel) will be closed Tuesday, February 26th due to the predicted snow fall and road conditions.   Franklin County Public Works will be working through the night plowing snow on the blacktop roads and then start on the gravel roads during the daylight hours tomorrow.

If you live on a road that is prone to drifting, you may not be able to get out.  If you leave your home you may not be able to return due to drifting and blowing snow. We anticipate it may take several days to clear all drifted roads in some areas of the County.

Franklin County Emergency Management continues to work with all emergency response agencies and Cities in the County to monitor the situation.

Again, Franklin County non-emergency offices will be closed Tuesday. Please continue to monitor the Ottawa Herald and KOFO AM 1220 for updates.  If you have internet you may want to visit theses sites:  www.kofo.com  or www.ottawaherald.com.
