LAWRENCE — One of life’s truths. If you steal an SUV, don’t do it in the nude.
The Lawrence Journal-World reported Lawrence authorites got a break in a dispute and vehicle theft case in Lawrence when Jefferson County deputies found a 22-year old Sshawnee man walking naked along U.S.s 24 east of Lawrence late Friday night. They found out the man was wanted from the incident in Lawrence Friday morning. The naked man, Ivory Leland Hardin, has been charged in Douglas County District Court of aggravated kidnapping, robbery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and theft. Lawrence police told the paper they were called to an incident at a Lawrence apartment on Friday morning. The residents reported they were battered in the course of an argument and their Chevy SUV was stolen. Officers who spoke with Hardin told the paper they weren’t sure how he ended up naked as a jay bird jaywalking along U.S. 24. His clothes remain missing, and the SUV remains missing. He remains in jail, presumably dressed in orange.
