LAWRENCE — Douglas County Sheriff Ken McGovern has named a Lawrence police officer as his new undersheriff. James Martin, Jr., who has a 28-year history in law enforcement, was the Lawrence Police Department’s patrol shift commander. He’ll fill the position held by Kenny Massey, who retired and took a position with the Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority.
